Things To Do Around The Cabin


  • Campfires.  We have a fire pit in the front yard with several Adirondack chairs and a picnic table. Enjoy the fire at night, cook hot dogs, s’mores or dinner in a skillet.

  • Grilling. There is a charcoal grill in the garage for your use. Please clean the grill if you use it.

  • The woods around the cabin. The woods and paths around the cabin are fun to explore. Make sure to wear blaze orange if exploring the woods during hunting season! Also, it’s surprisingly easy to get turned around back there so make sure to keep an eye on kids!

  • Water Access. Our private beach is included with your rental. It is located 100 yards south (turn to the right) of the Cabin; look for the matching windsock. There are two Adirondack chairs and firepit. Water shoes are nice to have as it is a rock beach.

    The end of Appleport Road (to the north or left from the Cabin) is another great spot for skipping rocks, putting in a kayak or taking a dip.

  • Beaches. There are great beaches in Door County, here are some favorites
    • Sand Bay Beach. Just minutes north; Sandy bottom, shallow, warm!

    • Sister Bay Beach. In town, fun pier!

    • Ellison Bay Beach. Also has a playground and tennis courts.

    • Europe Bay County Park- . Huge, beautiful beach! Great spot to set up camp for the day!


  • Peninsula State Park- Fish Creek. .  Great biking and hiking trails. There is also a golf course that is a favorite for many- the par 3 course is a great family activity as well!

  • Newport State park- (Northeast of Ellison Bay) . This is another great park that offers many hiking and biking trails. This is a very scenic park- with over 38 miles of trails, and 11 miles of lakefront. It is also a dark sky viewing park- come at night for the stars- they’re amazing!

  • Europe Bay County Park. This is a fun spot to hike through the woods and go swimming. You can hike into Europe Lake which is a great spot for a dip- significantly warmer than lake Michigan water!

  • Three Spring Nature Conservancy. This gem is located 2 miles down the road (ZZ) towards Sister bay. Turn on Three Springs road and drive to the end where the parking lot and trail head are located. Be sure to hike back to the springs!

  • Door County Lighthouses . Eagle Bluff Light Station Museum in Peninsula State park offers daily tours. Cana Island Lighthouse, perhaps the most iconic and photographed Door County Lighthouse, is located on the north end of Baileys Harbor.

  • Washington Island. This is a great place to spend the day. Take a ferry from Gills Rock up to the Island. There are places to rent bikes, enjoy the beach and just relax. Albatross has great burgers and soft serve!

  • Red Putter Mini Golf Course. Outside of Sister Bay going towards Ephraim. This is a classic! Highly recommended by our grandchildren.

  • Fishing. Lots of great places to fish in Door County! Some of the more successful places have been the Harbor in Sister Bay, and the pier off Rowley’s Bay Resort. Fish Creek piers in town have also been occasionally successful! There is a lot of fly fishing around Rowley’s Bay, near the entrance into Mink River.

  • In case of bad weather . The YMCA offers a day pass for families. There is a pool, gym and workout room. Located on HWY 42 in Fish Creek.
